The Norwegian Forest Cat has its roots deep in Norse history and mythology. From being alongside Vikings to assisting the goddess Freya, these cats are a part of Norway and its rich history.
In the 20th century, Wegies faced a sharp decline in numbers due to crossbreeding practices with other cats. Fortunately, the people of Norway deemed the cat a national treasure. As a result, King Olav V made the cat the national cat of Norway, helping people save the breed.
Today, the Norwegian Forest Cat continues to become a part of families in Norway and around the world.

A wire-bristle brush or a metal comb is a good option for brushing their coat. Brush them twice a week, which can be more during shedding seasons.
