A swollen belly. Rapid decline. One of the most dangerous emergencies a dog can face. This is how life-saving surgery corrected Roxy’s twisted stomach and gave her a second chance.

Case Overview
Roxy, an 11-year-old Golden Retriever, was rushed to our clinic in a critical state. Her abdomen had become severely bloated, and she was in visible distress. This condition, known medically as GDV (Gastric Dilation Volvulus) and more commonly as stomach bloat, is one of the most serious emergencies in dogs. Without immediate surgical intervention, GDV can quickly become fatal.
Diagnosis & Decision
Upon arrival, Roxy’s condition was carefully assessed and confirmed as GDV. This meant her stomach was not only distended with gas and fluid but also twisted, cutting off normal circulation and trapping its contents. Emergency surgery was the only option to save her life, and our veterinary team acted without delay.
