Tibetan Mastiffs are an ancient breed originating from Tibet, prized by people in East Asia. These dogs were bred to safeguard the monasteries of Tibet and were often regarded as vessels for the souls of monks who did not make it to their heavenly paradise, Shambhala.

These dogs impressed a lot of people because of their strong-willed and protective nature. Tibetan Mastiffs became the standard for many working dogs and were often used to guard sheep and other livestock. Their balance of power and control made them reliable guardians, as they did not chase, only shooed away.

These dogs were gradually made known to the world. From the mountains, their popularity grew. Today, these dogs are still being used as guard dogs, companions, and members of loving families.
