Today's patient suffers from poo stasis, which is an inflammation at the back of the mouth where the upper and lower jaw come together. Also, the loss of teeth is often involved in the inflammatory process, as we have seen in our patient today. The reason for it is unknown, but a disproportionate response of the immune system to plaque bacteria plays a significant role in the whole process. One of the treatment methods is the extraction of affected teeth along with a lasting antibiotic, and this is exactly what we've done for our cat today.
