Hello everyone, Dr. Soheyl from Noble Veterinary Clinic, and today I would like to talk about a very important topic called allergies in pets, which is a big concern for many pet owners. Just like humans, pets can suffer from allergies, and allergies are the response of the immune system to substances that are naturally harmless. However, the body recognizes them as harmful substances and starts to react. This reaction can manifest as sneezing, scratching, respiratory problems, gastrointestinal issues, or severe skin complications and infections. Two common types of allergies are environmental allergies and food allergies. We also have a less common problem, especially in the UAE, which is flea allergies. However, we still see allergies caused by external parasites , such as mange or mites. Pets with environmental allergies can present many symptoms such as scratching , sneezing, coughing, or licking their paws . These symptoms typically appear around the paws , nose, face, and lower body. Most of these patients suffer from skin complications. Food allergies are caused by the ingredients in the pet's food or diet , and the immune system reacts to these ingredients. These ingredients can be proteins or any additives used to produce this food , causing various symptoms in pets, such as gastrointestinal issues, sneezing , and predominantly scratching and licking their paws and bodies . Allergies in pets can be very challenging to manage. Identifying the underlying cause of the allergy is the key point in rectifying the problem. Here at Noble Veterinary Clinic, we are more than happy to assist you with over 20 years of experience treating pets with allergies. Hope to see you very soon. Thank you.
