تاريخ السلالة
Russian Blues were believed to have their roots in Archangelsk (Archangel Island), off the coast of Northern Russia. Because of this, they were nicknamed “Archangel Cats.” These cats were favored by nobility for their plush coats and royal personalities.
While not much was uncovered regarding their history, Russian Blues became a favorite in Great Britain, where they were grouped with other blue short-haired cats. However, it was only after World War II that their popularity truly skyrocketed.
Today, Russian Blues are still prized worldwide for their beauty and quiet affection.

العناية بالفرو
Russian Blues should be brushed once or twice a week. Use a soft-bristle brush and slowly brush away loose hairs and maintain their coat.

This breed rarely suffers from skin problems, but their thick coat can trap allergens. Regular brushing should help with skin health.

Russian Blues are naturally clean and don’t require frequent baths. A bath can be done every 4 to 6 weeks. Dry them thoroughly.

Nail trimming can be done every 3 to 4 weeks, or until the nails get too long. Use cat-specific nail clippers.

They don’t need frequent ear cleaning, but be sure to monitor their ears. When cleaning, use a vet-approved cleaning solution and wipe them with cotton balls.

Eye cleaning can be done as needed. Use a soft, damp cloth and wipe away from the eyes.

Brushing at least twice a week is recommended for a Russian Blue’s dental care. Use a pet-safe toothpaste and toothbrush.

Russian Blues have a wedge-shaped head with a straight nose and a flat forehead.

Their eyes are large, almond-shaped, and set wide apart. The only color is green.

Russian Blue cats have large, pointed ears that are set apart. There is light fur at the top.

They have a long, firm, and muscular body that is known as a “semi-foreign.” Because of this, they appear graceful.

Their legs are long and slim with small, oval paws. The front legs are slightly shorter than the hind legs.

Russian Blues have a long, slender tail that is proportionate to the rest of their bodies. It tapers evenly from base to tip.

The coat is short, plush, and dense with a double layer. It is only available in blue with silvery tips.
