What are the Signs of Worms in Dogs?
Worms can quietly take a toll on your dog’s health, often causing a range of symptoms that may not be immediately noticeable. You might not notice the signs before it’s too late. But by regularly using dewormers for dogs, your best friends will be protected from these symptoms. Here are the common indicators of worms in dogs:
Presence of Worms
In some cases, worms like roundworms and tapeworms may even be visible in the vomit or stool, appearing as spaghetti-like strands or rice-shaped segments. This is an obvious sign of a worm infestation in your dog.
Weight Loss and Malnutrition
If your dog seems to be eating normally but is still losing weight, then it might be a sign of worms. These internal parasites feed off of your dog’s nutrients, preventing normal growth and development. This is especially dangerous for puppies who are still developing.
Weakness and Lethargy
Dogs with worms can sometimes feel weak and tired all the time. You might notice your best friend will prefer to lie down all the time instead of having its usual playtime routine. Your dog can also be seen to have difficulty standing up and sitting down.
Changes in Coat Condition
A healthy dog typically has a shiny, smooth coat. Worm infestations can result in a dull, rough, or thinning coat. You’ll also notice some skin problems starting to arise. This happens because worms deprive your dog of essential nutrients needed for skin and fur health.
Scooting
Scooting is when a dog rubs its bottom on the floor to relieve itself. Worm infestations, especially tapeworms, can cause irritation around the anus. This might lead your dog to scoot across the floor or frequently lick or bite the affected area to relieve discomfort.

What are the Most Common Worms in Dogs?
Internal parasites and worms are some of the most dangerous enemies of dog health. They can cause severe health issues and complications that are hard to deal with. Here are the common types of worms in dogs:
Pet orthopaedic surgery helps fix any injury, chronic pains, and other orthopaedic medical conditions your pet may face. Roundworms
Roundworms are one of the most common worms found in puppies as they are able to infect them even while in their mother’s womb. They can also be found in their mother’s milk, contaminated soil, and feces.
Once in the system, they can steal partially digested food from the intestines of puppies and cause malnutrition, abdominal pain, weight loss, and fatigue.
Tapeworms
Dogs generally get tapeworms from fleas when they ingest them. Once the tapeworm is inside the system, it latches on to the lining of a dog’s intestines.
A common sign that your dog has tapeworms is when they scoot. Scooting is when dogs rub their bottoms on the ground to calm the irritation. You’ll also notice some segments of tapeworms that look like grains of rice in your dog’s feces.
Hookworms
Just like roundworms, hookworms can be found in their mother’s milk, contaminated soil, and feces due to the moist environment that suits them. Once these worms penetrate the skin, they can head to the linings of your dog’s intestines and feed on its blood.
Some symptoms of a hookworm infection include weight loss, a dull coat, bloody diarrhea, and coughing. Skin irritation from the burrowing of the worms can also be a sign.
Why Do Dogs Need Deworming?
Deworming is an essential part of your dog’s healthcare routine, shielding them from the harmful effects of internal parasites and intestinal worms. By regularly using dewormers for dogs, you’ll be able to prevent a lot of problems for your dog. Here’s why dog deworming is important:

#1
Safeguards Your Dog’s Health
Worms such as roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and whipworms live in your dog’s intestines, stealing nutrients and causing irritation. Over time, these parasites can lead to a host of health problems.
But with a regular dog deworming routine, your best friend can avoid any digestive issues, health problems, and malnutrition. Without the threat of worms, your dog will stay healthy and happy.
#2
Prevents Serious Issues
If left untreated, worm infestations can lead to severe complications, spreading to other parts of the body, such as the lungs or heart. Large infestations can also block the intestines, putting your dog’s life in danger.
By simply having regular dog deworming treatments, you can prevent serious health issues from getting in the way of your dog’s health.
#3
Protects Your Home
Maintaining a healthy weight is important for your cat’s overall well-being. Worms can drain essential nutrients and water from your cat’s diet, leading to weight loss and dehydration even if they eat normally.
To make sure your kittens grow up strong and healthy, it’s important to provide cat dewormers so they’ll have a healthy weight. With these, your cat can avoid any long-term issues from malnutrition and disease.
#4
Supports a Happy Life
Dogs with worms often experience discomfort, reduced energy levels, and poor health. They’ll be less happy, wanting to lie down more than have an amazing walk around the park. Affected dogs will also lose interest in their favorite treats, toys, and activities.
Dewormers are a dog’s best bodyguards. These dog deworming treatments help them regain their vitality, allowing them to explore without the threat of parasites ruining their happiness.
#5
Prevents Transmission
Parasites can easily spread to from one dog to another through contaminated feces, objects, food, and water. To help protect the dog community, it's important to make sure these worms do not cause dogs any harm.
We can easily do this by regularly treating our dogs with dewormers, helping protect them and other dogs in the process.

Dog deworming provides a lot of benefits for your best friend. With our dog deworming service in Dubai, we’ll help keep your dog’s journey full of fun. Bring your puppies in for an enjoyable visit!

How Often Should You Deworm Your Dog?
A routine dog deworming schedule should be followed to protect your dogs from these pesky parasites. Although it may depend on your dog's lifestyle, here's a general schedule our vets recommend:
Two Weeks Old
We recommend deworming your dog every two weeks at two weeks of age and getting additional treatments until it reaches the age of 12 weeks.
12 Weeks Old
Once your dog reaches the age of 12 weeks, it should be dewormed every month. This will be its routine until it reaches adulthood at the age of 6 months.
6 Months Old
Generally, we advise deworming your dog every three to four months when it reaches 6 months. However, your dog’s deworming schedule will depend on its lifestyle.
