Feline dental health is essential to your cat's overall well-being, as hidden tooth decay, gum inflammation, and painful oral lesions can severely impact their quality of life. Hi, I'm Dr. Mafalda, and today I want to speak about the importance of the heart scan examination. Heart disease is actually very common in cats and dogs. In dogs , we frequently hear a heart murmur detected during a regular physical examination. In cats, however, heart disease is very silent and only noticeable when severe symptoms arise . Cardiac problems are especially concerning when the patient is under stress, anxiety, higher temperatures, or anesthesia. Therefore, the heart scan will allow us to conduct a proper evaluation of the heart so we can assess the need for medication to delay the disease and also adjust the anesthetic protocols for procedures.
